5 inch gauge GWR Pannier Tank Class 57XX 0-6-0 - stock code 12998

A 5 inch gauge GWR 57XX Pannier tank. We bought this one from the builder in 2014, a man with over thirty engines to his credit - indeed the first time I visited his club I saw him handing over a brand new "City of Truro" to its new owner following a steam test.

The engine has come to us as part of a large collection as the owner downsizes in retirement. We last sold it to him at the end of 2014 - there are pictures and a video of it running in the archive here.

It has seen a good deal of use in the intervening years, with wear apparent from the motionwork, a seized regulator and leak from around the 9 o'clock position on the front tubeplate which will require attention before further use.

A worthwhile project - whilst requiring work, it is a finely built, well detailed engine.
