A complete, kit-built Great Western 14xx (or 48xx as Swindon first turned them out). Bought by a gentleman in the West Country some years ago, it was assembled with a good deal of help from his local model engineering club and has been used there on several occasions.
Silver soldered copper boiler with superheaters, 80psi working pressure, feed by mechanical pump with bypass and injector, auxiliary hand pump in the water tank. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves, Stephensons gear with screw reverser in cab. The cylinders are fitted with four drain cocks, manually operated from beneath, which is not the most convenient arrangment
Its been nicely finished, the boiler is in excellent order and it runs although as with many of these engines there are, in best estate agent speak, opportunities for improvement.
