Stored in its carrying crate in a dry workshop for the last six months, it hasn't been out of the box since we dropped it off - it remains in the same excellent condition shown opposite.
A 5 inch gauge GWR 14XX 0-4-2T to Neville Evans' "Didcot" design, a well made and attractively finished engine which remains in good condition throughout. The boiler had had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued - we've fitted a pair of safety valves, the originals accumulated.
Both injectors proved reliable, the hand pump was effective. There is a crosshead pump fitted, although ineffective in operation - whilst servicing once on the bench is straightforward, removal certainly isn't and so, with three working water feeds we took the decision to leave well alone!
On test the engine steamed freely, running well in either direction with even exhaust beats and little mechanical noise.
Offered with 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil. We would be more than happy to give half a day's instruction on the steaming, running and disposal of the engine to a new owner if required.
