A 5 inch gauge Great Central 0-6-0 to Don Young's "Pom Pom" design - the engine nicknamed for its explosive exhaust after the Boer War-era Maxim 37mm heavy machine gun.
Built by an experienced model engineer, work to date is to a high standard comprising a well-advanced tender, set of erected locomotive frames, part-machined cylinders and valve chest, buffers, brake gear, motion bracket and some motion work.
The boiler has been partially assembled with barrel/wrapper/throatplate and inner firebox/tube nest assemblies made - plates have been well flanged, the soldering neatly done with good penetration. Regulator has been machined and assembled.
There is a quantity of loose parts and castings, including some of the finest driving wheels we've seen, investment cast in iron.
Complete with drawings and copies of the original construction series.
