A scratch built model of a German Federal Railways diesel, ingeniously built a a petrol-hydraulic locomotive, with an air-cooled singe cylinder engine driving a hydraulic pump, which in turn is piped through to a hydraulic motor chain-driving the rear bogie. Built with a steel body on a steel chassis, it's a substantial engine.
Given that we're currently knee-deep in Staffords in the workshop, Geoff our internal combustion wizard hasn't had a chance to look at this one - however, the engine turns over freely on the rope start and produces a decent spark at the plug. With some fresh petrol it looks as if it would be raring to go.
