5 inch gauge Atlantic - stock code 4474

Don't know why there are virtually no 5 inch gauge Atlantics built - in the large scales, 7 1/4 inch gauge and upwards, they become popular as a large engine capable of negotiating tight curves. In 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch gauges, LBSC casts a long shadow with Ayesha and Maisie - the former enjoying something of a renaissance with the publication of a new construction series, the latter having been built in vast quantites since he first penned the design before the war.

This is a Great Northern Atlantic - a Maisie scaled up, effectively - re-decorated into London, Brighton and South Coast livery. Silver soldered copper boiler with combustion chamber, four element superheaters, 80psi working pressure. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator.
