5 inch gauge American 4-4-0 - stock code 7222

A 5 inch gauge American 4-4-0 - a sort of scaled-up "Virginia" on steroids, it's a big, well-proportioned engine. Another engine from the large collection John and I went to pick up in France recently, it's been shut up in the late owner's house for the last five years, although probably hasn't been run in nearer twenty years. That said, the boiler is in good condition, it's had a twice working pressure hydraulic test in the workshop, the engine has been run on air. It will need all the usual sorts of things doing to rouse a locomotive from a long slumber - clacks, fittings, pump etc will all need cleaning and servicing - but it's more routine servicing than major overhaul.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by injector and axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaerts gear, pole reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
