A 5 inch gauge "Ajax" 0-4-0T, recently arrived as one of three "barn find" locomotives from a garden railway in our old stomping grounds of Berkshire.

In dilapidated cosmetic condition, missing its cab roof and left hand tank lid, it's shabby appearance belies good performance underneath.

The locomotive runs well in both directions and makes steam freely, we've issued new hydraulic and steam certificates.

There's some wear in the bottom end commensurate with age and use - a weekend rebushing the motionwork, ordering some new laser-cut platework and applying a fresh coat of paint over the Christmas break would be time well rewarded.
