A Foster agricultural traction engine, the work of a professional engineer who also owns full-sized traction engines. Comprises most of a set of castings and parts including:
laser cut wheel spokes, strakes with holes drilled
pressed out plates for tender
virtually complete front end including wheels, axle, perch bracket, spud pan (CNC machined from the solid, the first time I've seen this done - it says a deal for the builder's determination, not to mention patience)
smokebox, door with locking handles and chimney
part-machined cylinder block ready for the supplied liner to be fitted
part-machined crankshaft
wire eroded expansion link and die block in hardened steel
machined rear hubs
part machined connecting rod with wire eroded big end strap, both in stainless steel
machined trunk guide
machined safety valves
machined flywheel
machined crank and second shaft bearings
machined winch drum assembly
machined third shaft
all gear blanks machined in steel ready for cutting
steering worm and wheel
differential gears
There are many small machined bits, including regulator handle, fairleads, hub caps etc. All machined work to date is to an excellent standard, many of the smaller parts are in stainless steel.
There is a commercially built steel boiler, expanded steel tubes, working pressure 120psi.
Drawings and remaining castings are available from Live Steam Models.
