4 inch scale Burrell traction engine - stock code 6100

A particularly well made Burrell to Live Steam Models' 4 inch scale design, although modified with a larger, ten inch diameter boiler barrel which adds some welcome weight to the front end. It's come to us direct from the builder, a highly skilled engineer currently ten years into his masterwork, a highly-detailed 7 1/4 inch gauge South African Class 25 being built from works drawings which is already huge, even without its tender.

Steel boiler by Live Steam Models, fitted with expanded tubes, 100 psi working pressure, feed by injector and mechanical pump. Cast iron cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear. Mechanical lubricator and Pickering type governor mounted on the cylinder block. Two road speeds with differential, rubber tyres, winch mounted behind nearside rear wheel with fairleads on tender.

The engine is road-registered with a V5 document. Unused for several years before coming here, we have had it in steam a couple of times recently. I's a delight to drive, clipping along in fine style on the road - there's a clip of Jon running around on it here.
