4 inch scale Burrell agricultural engine, commercial boiler, drawings - stock code 8238

A well-advanced 4 inch scale Burrell agricultural engine, work to date is to a good standard.

The commercially-built boiler is by S.E.Ward of Sheffield - a well-respected name in the preserved steam movement, most of their boilers were for full-size engines, both narrow gauge locomotives and traction engines (indeed "Ursula" has one of their boilers, and very good it is too). It has its manufacturer's paperwork, including material certificates and initial shell hydraulic test.

The engine is up on its wheels, commercially cut gears fitted (including second shaft differential) along with winch drum on the back axle. There is a quantity of loose parts including neatly made gear guards; steering wheel, shaft and worm; part-built lubricator, mud lid gaskets and a pair of commercial drain cocks.

Main work to complete includes fabrication of a tender, boiler cladding and fittings - cost of material to complete would be a few hundred pounds, it would be entirely feasible to get this engine on the rally field for next season.

Complete with a set of drawings.
