An interesting model of a Scammell Mechanical Horse, built to partner a Foden steam tractor in the same scale by a prolific builder of traction engines and locomotives.
Based on original works drawings, it replicates the ingenious quick detach trailer loading system and highly manoeuvrable characteristics of the full sized three-wheelers, which found uses everywhere from factories and warehouses to station platforms. The model is powered by a Tecumseh 4 stroke engine bought new for the project, driving through a transaxle.
Much rallied in its lifetime, witnessed by the plaques that adorn the rear of the cab and written up in "Engineering in Miniature" by the builder, the wagon has not been used in some years and will no doubt require some recommissioning - at the very least some fresh petrol. Complete with a large folder of builder's notes, sketches, correspondence and photographs.
