3 inch scale Marshall portable engine - stock code 6948

An attractive, well engineered model of a Marshall portable engine in 3 inch scale, built by Jeff Drury in 1993 - a talented engineer, he produced all sorts of models including the 7 1/4 inch gauge LNER K2 we sold back in 2012, one of a pair he built.

Steel boiler with expanded tubes, 60psi working pressure, feed by mechanical pump with bypass. Cast iron cylinder with slide valve actuated by eccentric, displacement lubricator mounted on block. Fit and finish is good throughout, it runs very well - there's a clip of it ticking over in the sunshine outside the workshop this afternoon here.

Complete with two sets of wheel chocks, firing irons and a neatly made wooden box on castors that it lives in when travelling, can be displayed on top of. There's a small amount of damage to the woodwork at one end, it looks like the work of a couple of panel pins to refix.
