3 inch scale Foden with trailer - stock code 4118

I sold this one in April of last year, it's recently come back as its owner moved up to a 4 1/2 inch scale model of the same thing. We steamed it last week, still got exactly the same extraordinary barnstorming performance - Claire got some high definition video which I'll try to persuade her to YouTube when she gets back from holiday.

A 3 inch scale Foden built to the Morris design, completed in 2006 and first steam tested on 27th April of that year. It'sby some considerable margin the liveliest one of these I've ever driven - it goes like a rocket, there's a clip of Steve racing around the estate on a recent particularly cold morning here.

Silver soldered copper boiler by Morewood Model Engineers Ltd, feed by injector hand pump - the standard crank-driven pump has been fitted but its drive chain is currently removed, the builder finding the pump cavitated at the speeds he drove on his club road runs. Cast iron cylinders compound with double high lever, three road speeds with differential.

The engine has been built with a short trailer bed, fitted with a crate to act as the driver's seat and detachable footrests on the chassis which make driving comfortable.

Build quality is good throughout, it's a thoroughly nice engine to drive, exceptionally free-steaming and running well in all gears in both compound and double high.

The engine is road-registered and has a purpose-fitted covered road trailer with built-in hand winch and ramps, allowing easy loading and unloading single-handed.
