The work of a retired engineer, the man was something of a steam wagon aficianado - in addition to the J-type he had just started another Foden, with a 3 inch scale Clayton undertype nearing completion on the bench.
The rolling chassis is well-advanced, with vulcanized rubber tyres, Ackerman steering gear and a beautifully made brass water tank fitted.
The cylinder block has been fully machined and assembled with covers and trunk guides, crankshaft is part machined.
