A 3 inch scale Foden J-type steam wagon, built as one of a pair by a professional engineer -
the completed engine the finest example of this design we've seen by some margin.
Work is to an exceptional standard, and includes:
- Silver soldered copper boiler
- Rolling chassis with rubber-tyred wheels, steering gear, rear axle and differential
- Stainless steel water tank
- Crankshaft complete with flywheel
- Valve gear including eccentric straps, sheaves and rods, expansion links, lifting link
- Connecting rods
- Pistons with rods and crossheads
- Gears
- Smokebox door, ring and handles
- Cylinder casting with liners
- Part-finished copper chimney cap, complete with spinning former
- Quantity of smaller machined parts, machined and unmachined castings
The boiler was hydraulic tested when completed, with club certification issued.
