3 inch scale Burrell traction engine for restoration - stock code 2041

A partly-stripped example of a 3 inch scale Burrell traction engine, for restoration.

The engine is about 75% complete and pushes along. From a preliminary inspection, the following bits are missing:

Valve rod
Expansion link and die block
Brake gear
Mechanical pump strap, rod and ram
Chimney
Injector
Gear selectors

There is a box of bits with the engine including the missing valve rod and eccentric, smokebox door, water gauge with Klinger-type protector, gear guard, ashpan and grate.

The boiler is in steel. The main shell and firebox look ok, the front tubeplate and tubes have seen better days..

The engine when complete will weigh around 250 pounds. It is a popular choice for rallying, capable of pulling its driver and a passenger, yet small enough to load into the back of a car quite easily.

Drawings and castings are still available for this model from Plastows - I've included a picture of a super 3 inch Burrell we sold recently to give an idea of the finished engine.
