3 inch scale Burrell SCC Showmans - stock code 2628

Three inch scale Burrell, based on the Plastow design but much modified to produce a single crank compound Showmans engine.

Silver soldered copper boiler, working pressure 110 psi. Feed by injector and crank-driven pump with bypass, water lifter fitted to belly tank. Single crank compound, Stephenson's valve gear with pole reverser on footplate.

The engine has just had a new boiler certificate and runs well. The generator runs the canopy lights effectively with the engine rocking gently when working on the belt in most realistic fashion. There is a driver's trolley, set of firing irons and steam raising blower, together with a large file of information including original build photographs, initial hydraulic test certificate and a set of drawings. Paintwork is well worn but could be sympathetically touched in. The canopy is beautifully made, with a removeable roof section which makes driving a sight easier.

Rather an unusual engine - I've single single crank compounds in 1 1/2 and 4 inch scales, never a 3 until now.

Length 50 inches
Weight approx 300 pounds

Apologies for the pictures - Mrs P has deemed them not up to scratch, my excuse is that they were taken at the end of a long (two) day(s) with the boiler inspector. What they lack in clarity is supposed to be compensated for by the sense of dynamic excitement of an engine in steam, generating. On the other hand, they might just be ropey pictures...
