I bought this engine from the builder when he completed it in 2002, having just won the Bill Hughes Trophy for best road vehicle at the Model Engineer Exhibition, along with a Gold Medal. At that point it had been steamed to check it worked as expected, before being stripped and painted for the exhibition.

In the hands of its new owner it won Best Road Vehicle at the Harrogate Show in 2002, since when it has been rallied regularly. It remains in superb condition, I drove it earlier this week and it runs almost silently.
