3 inch scale Allchin agricultural engine - stock code 11801

A 3 inch scale Allchin agricultural engine, built to the highly-regarded "Royal Chester" design by Bill Hughes, doubled up. It makes for a large engine in this scale, weighing in at close to a quarter of a ton and over four feet long.

The work of a retired railwayman and experienced model engineer - he also built the 5 inch gauge LNER B1 and Class 08 that we listed recently - the engine remains unsteamed from new.

Boiler is a commercially built job by the estimable John Rex, welded steel with expanded tubes.

The engine runs on air, the boiler - complete with manufacturer's documentation - has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued.
