3 1/2 inch gauge "Tich" - stock code 1915

3 1/2 inch gauge large-boilered example of LBSC's "Tich", designed and serialised in Model Engineer in 1947 as a beginner's locomotive. Often seen with the simpler slip-eccentric valve gear, this engine has Walschaert's gear with pole reverser in the cab.

The engine turns over freely without tight spots. It has never been completed - the mechanical lubricator needs a drive rod, some plumbing for the boiler feeds is missing and the reach rod requires connecting to the weighshaft. The boiler is silver-soldered copper construction and looks quite well made, feed is by mechanical axle pump with bypass valve in the cab. There is a brake stand in the cab connected to a cross-shaft beneath the footplate, but there are no operating rods or shoes. The paintwork is, to be kind, rather unfortunate!
