3 1/2 inch gauge "Tich" 0-4-2T - stock code 5418

One of the finest examples of "Tich" I've seen. The work of a highly experienced builder who, during a professional life spent in heavy engineering built thirteen locomotives in 5 and 7 1/4 inch gauge - in retirement he built this, his first and only 3 1/2 inch gauge engine (although there's time yet for another couple, he didn't seem like a man used to being idle).

This is a brand new, unsteamed engine. Yes, it is absolutely as good as it looks, beautifully made, fit and finish of a very high order throughout, cab neatly laid out, an additional pair of wheels at the back to allow a bunker water tank. There are all sorts of nice details, from the reach rod tunnel in the offside water tank to snifter valves on the cylinder valve chests.

The boiler is in copper, silver-soldered throughout. It was tested commercially at twice working pressure when built and comes with certification to that effect.
