They spent their working lives shunting in Aberdeen docks, after the Aberdeen Harbour Commissioners finally allowed locomotives to be used instead of horses in 1915. Absorbed first by the LNER at grouping and then BR at nationalisation, 8190 was finally withdrawn in 1960 - still on its original boiler, no spares having been ordered when the engines were new!
The builder has taken some trouble to make a well-proportioned model based closely on the prototype - it's a nicely made thing, with scratch-built wooden superstructure mounted on a steel chassis.
Light - it only weighs about 12 pounds - we suspect it would need some ballast in the chassis if required to pull anything more than itself about.
