3 1/2 inch gauge Stanier 2-6-4T - stock code 4465

An exceptionally well made LMS 2-6-4 tank locomotive to Martin Evans' "Jubilee" design although with much added prototypical detail. We had a super 4 1/2 inch scale Burrell by the same builder this time last year, there are pictures of that engine in the archive.

Another of those engines where the pictures tell the story better than words. Beautifully made throughout, the detailing is finely done, from inspection covers on the cylinder cladding through to opening top lights in the spectacle plate, rows of neatly done rivetting, beaded edges to cab windows, lifting irons on the side tanks, dummy washout plugs fitted along the outer wrapper... The longer you look at it the more you see.

Boiler is copper, silver soldered throughout and hydraulic tested by the builder's club before it was fitted to the frames.

The engine is better than 95% complete - it requires dome and top feed bonnets machining (the castings are with the engine), some plumbing and fitting out of the cab, including a floor and repair or replacement of one union link.

If painted to the same standard as the rest of the work to date - itself not an insignificant project - this will make a spectacular model of a handsome prototype.
