3 1/2 inch gauge Manning Wardle 2-6-2T "Lew" - stock code 6927

An early stage 3 1/2 inch gauge Manning Wardle 2-6-2T, the Lynton & Barnstaple locomotive "Lew" to Les Warnett's design serialised in "Engineering in Miniature". Work to date comprises a complete chassis, smokebox assembly and a well made silver soldered copper boiler with initial club hydraulic test certificate at 180psi for 90psi working pressure. A two foot gauge prototype, it makes a large engine in 3 1/2 inch gauge - we've recently sold the superb example built by Keith Massey, that one's a two man lift.

Sam, Tom and I had to make a trip to Bethesda in North Wales last week - early morning start, lunch at the Royal Goat in Beddgelert and ended up at Porthmadog in the afternoon - the replica Manning Wardle "Lyd" was on the 15.45, sounded superb leaving harbour station. Having watched it leave, I then drove to Tan-y-Bwlch to meet the others who went up on the train, got there just in time for a cup of tea in the sunshine before they arrived. Late back to Metheringham that night - if the Ffestiniog was any closer, I'd never get any work done.
