3 1/2 inch gauge "Lucky 7" - stock code 5709

One of the nicest Lucky 7s I've seen - I've got a particular soft spot for Don Young's rendition of Edaville #7 and had one of my own for some years. Don't let the 3 1/2 inch gauge fool you - these things are monstrously big and heavy, Steve and I nearly killed ourselves at Harrogate a few years ago trying to lift one onto the stand!

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, twin pop-type safety valves, feed by injector and steam pump with an auxiliary hand pump in the bunker. The injector is a joy to use, the steam pump starts easily, will run down to a slow tickover and is near silent in operation.

Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's gear with pole reverser in the cab. Twin sight feed lubricators in cab.

Completed in 1999, this one is exceptionally well made. Machining is very crisp throughout, fit and finish of the motionwork is excellent - a thoroughly well-sorted engine that has been in recent, regular club use. There's a clip of it running in the workshop here.
