The silver soldered copper boiler is fitted with radiant superheaters, it's had recent hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.
Three cylinder chassis with slide valves actuated by Gresley-Holcroft conjugated valve gear, the displacement lubricator has a sight feed in the cab; boiler feed is by twin axle pumps and injector, with auxiliary hand pump in the tender.
The engine steams freely and runs particularly well, mechanically quiet with well-defined exhaust beats - there's some video of it on the rolling road here.
The original engine, A3 No.2502 "Hyperion" was built at Doncaster works in 1934, it was finally withdrawn and scrapped in 1964.
