A 3 1/2 inch gauge Glasgow & Southern Western Railway 2-2-2, we believe from the builder's notes to be his interpretation of Patrick Stirling's 2 Class of 1857.

The pierced driving wheel splashers and sinuously curved trailing wheel splashers would make an appearance in his later designs for the Great Northern Railway, notably the magnificent eight foot singles.
