Well made, with a very neat chassis design featuring, unusually, inside Hackworth valve gear. The vibrating links of this gear normally preclude use between the frames unless - as with this engine - the boiler is of modest diameter and set high off the frames.
The engine rolls freely and runs on air, although in a somewhat desultory manner. Boiler looks well put together originally, however a leak on the front left hand corner of the foundation ring will require repair before use.
