An older engine, it has been run in the past although not, we suspect, since being painted. In deference to its age and condition we haven't attempted either to test it or run on air - however it turns over freely, the boiler looks well made, free from any hint of leak or distortion.
Standard of workmanship is good throughout - fit and finish of the motionwork and valve gear is to a high standard, assembled with taper pins and showing little sign of wear. Driving wheelsets run in split bronze bearings.
Backhead is well laid out and neatly piped up. The 80psi pressure gauge is a nice vintage item, although it would need to be replaced if the engine were to be run with something capable of reading higher.
There are one or two small chips of paint missing, the running boards have a slight kink under the cab on either side.
Mounted on a length of display track.
