3 1/2 inch gauge "Britannia" - stock code 5242

A well-made Britannia to LBSC's design, this one came from a large collection of good engines that came in last year - it included a 5 inch gauge Black 5 and rebuilt 3 cylinder Scot amongst others. The owner had an extensive ground level 5 inch gauge railway, fully signalled and having, amongst other things, over 70 wagons of all types in the shed - an impressive sight. The 3 1/2 inch gauge engines were on display in the house, which is where this Britannia has spent the last few years.

Silver soldered copper boiler with combustion chamber, 80psi working pressure, feed by injector and axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert's gear with screw reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator.

The engine goes well, quiet and free-running - there's a clip of it running in the workshop here. Paintwork is presentable, there is a minor ding in the boiler cladding.
