3 1/2 inch gauge Black 5 - stock code 2520

I bought this engine some time ago from the son of the late builder and, having test run it was so impressed that it's been squirelled away for sunny day use ever since. Somewhat reluctantly I'm now putting it up for sale - both my local societies are ground level tracks, only one caters for this gauge and I've finally given up the struggle of balancing 6' 5" of me on a pair of rails 3 1/2" apart (although if anybody's got a nice raised level 3 1/2 track anywhere near Lincoln that accomodates visitors, I wouldn't need much persuading to keep it!).

Built to LBSC's "Doris" design for the Stanier Black 5, the engine is finely made and runs extremely well - fast, with a lovely exhaust beat. The paintwork is worn in places though still entirely presentable, the overall condition is that of an engine that has been regularly though carefully used over a long period - which is often the case when the driver was also the builder.

Silver soldered copper boiler with superheater, working pressure 80psi, twin safety valves, feed by axle pump, injector and auxiliary hand pump in tender. Piston valve cylinders in gunmetal, Walschaert's valve gear with screw reverser in cab.
