3 1/2 inch gauge Baldwin 4-8-4 "Columbia" - stock code 8585

A 3 1/2 inch gauge Baldwin 4-8-4 to Martin Evans' "Columbia" design - not an engine we get in that often but, rather like waiting for a bus, two have arrived with us recently one after the other.

An older engine, this one was well built and remains in good condition. It steams freely and runs very well in either direction - there's a clip of it on the rolling road here.

The cab controls have been fitted with a set of extension controls, very useful given the length of the 12 wheel bogie tender.

Listed as a running restoration only in that it needs a leaky regulator sorting out - other than that everything works, water feeds and safety valves effective (and the four note chime whistle sounds super!)
