2 inch scale Robinson & Auden portable engine - stock code 12540

A finely detailed 2 inch scale model of a Robinson & Auden 6nhp portable engine, works number 1003 of 1892, the work of a man who had interests in both full-size steam restoration and model making.

Drawings and patterns were made after taking measurements from the original engine at a yard where the builder kept his own Ransomes portable and Merryweather fire engine.

Built to fine scale throughout, it's a beautifully observed model - the longer you look at it, the more you see. Standard of fit and finish is good throughout, the paintwork and lining executed to a high standard.

The fastidious fidelity to scale dimensions extends to the boiler - of delicate construction, with scale thickness barrel and stays and smokebox tubeplate cutaway to show interior detail, it was built for display rather than use.
