2 inch scale Burrell Gold Medal Showmans tractor - stock code 7565

An exceptionally well-built example of a Burrell Gold Medal Showmans tractor in 2 inch scale to the MJ Engineering design and using their castings. The work of a highly experienced engineer, the engine took awards at both the London and Midlands Model Engineering Exhibitions, including the Aveling-Barford Trophy, best in class for road vehicles and a silver medal. The engine has been test-fired on gas - there is a burner included - but the firebox has yet to see coal, the engine remains in ex-works condition throughout.

Silver soldered copper boiler, all parts cut and flanged by the builder before being sent to the estimable John Ellis of Kinver to be soldered together. It had a club hydraulic and steam test when completed and has recently had the hydraulic test renewed. Feed by mechanical pump and injector, water carried in belly tanks and beneath man stand with steam water lifter. Gunmetal compound cylinder block with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear, mechanical lubricator, Pickering type governor. Two speed, three shaft transmission with differential, winch behind nearside rear wheel with fairleads mounted on tender.

Such was the impression that the engine made at its show debut, the builder took a commission to finish another, similar engine which was completed in two years.

Complete with custom built transit case on wheels with detachable pull bar.
