2 inch Burrell "Thetford Town" castings part-built boiler - stock code 2481

Early stages of a 2 inch scale Burrell Showmans engine to the highly-detailed plans by Ronald H.Clark, produced from original Burrell drawings. Based on one of the largest road locomotives built, at 2 inch scale this design produces a large, powerful model around four feet long when finished.

Work to date comprises:

Front wheels built
Perch bracket and front axle
Smokebox assembly complete with door and chimney
Rear hubs part machined for spokes
Part-built copper boiler: barrel, inner and outer firebox, tubes, backhead

In addition there are a large quantity of iron, gunmetal and aluminium castings, including:

Cylinder block c/w top, front & back covers
Rear wheel rims
Valve chest covers
Safety valve body
Eccentric straps
Cannon brackets, keeps and bearings
Flywheel
Crank balance weights
Pinion centres
Rear wheel rims, hubs, plates and caps
Steering wheel
Brake wheel
Name plates
Makers plate
Grate
+ dozens of smaller castings, water filler pocket, bearings, governor body etc

Other parts include:

Part-finished lubricator
Water gauge with spare glass
Set of machined differential gears
Set of machined governor gears

There is a set of drawings with the engine, castings and other parts are available from Reeves for this design.

Although a four inch scale engine rather than two, my Burrell DCC Showmans gives you a good idea of what the finished engine will look like.
