Fitted with Stephenson's reversing gear, the engine runs well on air in either direction. Given its age and patina, we've made no attempt to strip it for a boiler test - we suspect that any new owner will simply admire it on a bookshelf (as we're doing currently!)
We love the little details on this one - double nutted bearing caps, eccentric strap oilers and air bottle on the water pump.
Tantalisingly, having taken the trouble to fashion and fit a maker's plate on the smokebox the maker has left it blank - it would have been nice to have a name recorded for posterity.
