1 inch scale "Minnie" traction engine - stock code 2047

Nicely-made model of Len Mason's "Minnie" design, a freelance agricultural traction engine, typical of the type being built around the turn of the century by makers such as Burrell.

Coal-fired copper boiler fed by crankshaft driven pump with bypass and injector. Ramsbottom type safety valves. Two speed road gears with winch behind nearside rear wheel.

The engine is fitted with Stephenson's valve gear operating a slide valve. Mechanical cylinder lubricator.

The engine has been little used in recent years and requires some recommissioning, including adjustment to the mechanical lubricator spring to pick up the pawl reliably, cleaning the injector and mechanical pump non-return valves. The paintwork is substantially good but could use a little touching-up in places. It runs well and has a purpose-built trailer in which it lives.

Length 16 inches (trailer box 18 inches)
