1 1/2 inch scale part-built Allchin traction engine - stock code 4350

One of a pair of Allchins started in the 1980s by an engineering company as "fill in" work between other jobs. Work completed to date is to a good standard and comprises:

  • Hornplates, erected with crankshaft, pump, third shaft and rear axle
  • Flywheel
  • Machined cylinder block and trunk guide
  • Machined gears, including final drive and differential
  • Steering gear
  • Front axle, wheels and spud pan assembly
  • Perch bracket
  • Smokebox assembly with door and locking handles
  • Rear wheels
  • Winch drum
  • Chimney with cap (the bottom flange has a chip out of it)
  • Flanged tender sides
  • Grate & ashpan assembly

In addition there is a silver soldered copper boiler by Bishop Richardson with maker's test certificate, a large quantity of unmachined castings, front and rear spokes, steering chains, winch cable, construction manual and a complete set of drawings - the work sheets shown logged the hours billed to the job, they total some 200 hours to date.

All in fairly grubby condition from a lot of years in a shed, with some surface rust which cleans off easily.
