Regular readers may remember his wonderful WW1 Mk4 tank which we sold earlier in the year. Following on from that, this WWI MkV 8 inch howitzer is described by its builder as "a twenty year itch scratched"!
It features working elevation with gearbox (which in truth could use either a lock or damper to avoid barrel droop - unsightly in a model, exciting in full size...) and recoil mechanism.
The breech opens and closes as per the prototype; the authentically made locking mechanism is purposely missing a male thread, the provision of which, the builder surmised, might put him on the wrong side of firearms legislation...
An imposing model with a great deal of presence, nearly a yard long and getting on for half a hundredweight.
