1 1/2 inch scale Allchin traction engine - stock code 6465

A particularly nicely made Allchin to Bill Hughes' "Royal Chester" design. An older engine, the paint is showing wear giving it more the look of a working agricultural engine than the normal highly polished Allchins that come in. Machining is very crisp, fit and finish of motionwork is good - the engine runs quietly on air.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, Ramsbottom safety valve. Feed by mechanical pump and injector. Gunmetal cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear with pole reverser. Two road speeds with differential, winchbehind nearside rear wheel with fairleads on tender.

The engine hasn't been steamed in many years - the previous owner bought it with the intention of repainting it, in the end it was too nice to take apart, so ended up on display in his house. We've hydraulic tested the boiler at twice working pressure - it's sound although various fittings and gaskets leak which would require work as part of a recommissioning process to return it to steam.
