We currently have job vacancies in our machine shop and stores - the posts are full-time, permanent positions with full training offered for each.
We are happy to consider applications from candidates regardless of age or previous experience, provided you either live within commuting distance of our works or are prepared to relocate.
Trainee CNC machinist
Due to increasing sales of our new-build locomotives, a vacancy has arisen for a trainee CNC machinist. Using a variety of machines in our workshop, we produce many thousands of components each year for the locomotives we build, in addition to bespoke replacement parts for engines that we service and overhaul.
The job involves operating a variety of CNC lathes, mills, machining and turning centres, for which full training will be given – see our "workshop facilities”page for details of the machines we use. Initially the job will involve loading and unloading parts from machines, cleaning and finishing components ready for booking into stores and running existing programs.
We need an organized person to run our stores, where we keep a wide variety of locomotives, traction engines and miscellaneous paraphernalia, all bar-coded and computer-tracked in pallets. The work includes booking newly-arrived engines into stores, keeping track of pallets on shelves, packing items for despatch and retrieving and cleaning engines for photography in the studio.
Full training will be given, however a basic level of computer literacy would be useful, as would a driving licence.
