"ME" beam engine - stock code 10601

A 1 inch scale "ME" beam engine, built to the Oliver Smith design, serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine and representative of a typical mid-nineteenth century engine, complete with Watt governor, water pump and geared layshaft with auxiliary drive pulley.

The engine turns freely and runs on air, with slight runout of the flywheel which rubs on the side of its slot in the base. The slot itself could be easily enlarged by a fraction, a better solution would be to make a complete new base - the engine deserves something better than the veneered chipboard job it currently resides on.
