Maxwell Hemmens Showmans tractor with organ - stock code 9599

A 1 inch scale Showmans tractor by Maxwell Hemmens, a commercial builder who enjoyed an excellent reputation in the 1980s and 90s for producing high quality models of locomotives, traction engines and steam plants, both stationary and marine.

Now nearly thirty years old, this engine came to us in part exchange for a 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotive. Built from a kit it is complete and runs on air, although in fairly desultory fashion; various fasteners need tightening, including the hornplate bolts.

Cosmetically it's in excellent condition showing signs of little use and is complete with original manufacturer's purpose built crate and documentation including assembly/operating instructions and initial boiler test certificate.

Coal fired, it has a silver soldered copper boiler fed by a mechanical pump.

The organ has a Walkman-type player wired to a speaker inside, with several cassettes of fairground music included - overall size is 19 1/2 x 7 x 13 1/2 inches.

If shipped the engine and organ will be packed in two separate heavy duty cartons on a single pallet for security - alternatively they can be collected from the works.
