Built to a good standard originally and remaining in good mechanical condition, the engine steams freely and runs well. The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.
Boiler feed is by an injector, the locomotive is also piped up with a high pressure connector for - as the previous owner used - a hand or electric pump carried in a driving truck.
The engine is fitted with a front derailing bar and vacuum brake equipment, comprising steam valve, driver's brake valve, gauge and limiter.
