5 inch gauge raised level braked driving trucks - stock code 10466

A substantial quantity of parts for a batch of 5 inch gauge raised-level driving trucks. Originally designed by the City of Oxford Society of Model Engineers, they have several magnificently turned out examples in frequent use on their track at Cutteslowe Park.

Following the success of the design at the club level, plans were drawn up to produce a batch commercially, and the following lot of parts were commissioned from a local machine shop. One military contract later, the machine shop moved on to pastures new, and the project was shelved.

The project so far represents a significant quantity of high-quality work, comprising:

  • 1 carriage body
  • 3 assembled bogies
  • 65 4 1/4” EN8 disc wheels
  • 4 brake axles
  • 15 disc brakes
  • 39 axle box holders
  • 41 machined axles
  • 3 large front couplings
  • 4 small rear couplings
  • 70 large spring holders
  • 90 small spring holders
  • 30 bogie pan ends
  • 17 bogie pans
  • 69 nylon bearings
  • 26 sealed bearings and circles
  • 2 brake units
  • 44 axleboxes
  • 20 bogie centre bolsters
  • 10 frame spacers
  • 80 suspension springs
  • C.D with 130 CAD drawings, calculations and assembly instructions.

A promising start, either for a club looking to build a dozen robust riding trucks to a proven design, or as a commercial endeavour.
