This one came to us in part exchange for a 5 inch narrow gauge rack and pinion locomotive, along with an absolute jewel of a Maryport & Carlisle Railway "Crampton" in 3 1/2 inch gauge.
An older engine, kept for display on a landing in the previous owner's house, it appears to have had little use from new. Mechanically it's in good order; the finely lined paintwork - Stroudley's famous "improved engine green" livery - remains in bright condition.
The boiler has had a recent twice working pressure hydraulic test followed by steam test, with new certification issued. The prototypically correct Salter safety valves were unreliable by modern standards so we've replaced them with discretely fitted commercial pop type valves, but retained the original parts which could be refitted by a new owner if required.
The engine steams freely and runs very quietly - a particularly good example, it's one of the nicest Terriers we've seen in recent years, there's some video of it on our YouTube channel here.
