A 3 ½ inch gauge Southern 2-6-0 to LBSC’s “Betty”
design – not a commonly seen model these days (or possibly ever – no idea
how many were made, certainly nothing like the number of “Maisie”s and
“Doris”s).
This is a largely complete engine, it’s missing a cab and
pressure gauge but could be put back in to running condition with a minimum of
effort (indeed, if you don’t mind what people say about you at the club, you
may consider a cab optional and do without it).
Silver soldered superheated copper boiler with combustion
chamber, 80psi working pressure, feed by axle pump with hand pump in tender.
Gunmetal cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert’s gear with screw
reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator.
Running gear and motion is in good condition, paintwork on
the running boards is poor – really the whole engine wants a repaint once the
cab is fitted.
